Currently it provides the best compression ratio among all known lossless video codecs. It is confirmed by an extensive comparison using a representative test set.
This codec works with RGB24, YV12 and YUY2 color formats and uses the Video for Windows (VfW) application interface. YULS can be used with VirtualDub and other programs supporting VfW codecs. Due to high complexity, the codec is not suitable for video capture or non-linear editing.
Changes in YUVsoft Lossless Video Codec 1.3 :
- Compression ratio for video streams with fast motion were improved by up to 5% at the expense of encoding speed; due to another compression/encoding speed trade-off time of encoding increased up to 1.5 times for some files and decreased up to 1.8 times for another; however, this version is fully compatible with previous ones
